Sivanandalahari- March 30, 2014

This production was an attempt at paying homage to the Supreme Lord Shiva as the embodiment of the five elements – Space, air, fire, water and earth. In South India, there are five important temples, all dedicated to Lord Shiva, each one of them representing him as one of the five elements – as wind in Kalahasthi, as earth in Kanchipuram, as fire in Thiruvannamalai, as water in Thiruvaanaikka, and as space in Chidambaram. The production was a two hour music and dance pilgrimage to the five holy shrines, featuring the Panchabootha kshetra kritis of Muthuswami Dikshitar, and the several other famous compositions.
